Founded on the banks of the Tennessee River in 1840, Clifton is rich in scenic, historic and recreational assets. Clifton was also ranked 7th in Safest Places to Live in Tennessee. Clifton is a city in Wayne County, set on the south bank of the Tennessee River, roughly half way between Memphis and Nashville. The City of Clifton Parks and Recreation Department operates three park facilities, as well as maintains numerous landscaping projects throughout the City.
